UPSC Lateral Entry 2021: Union Public Service Commission has invited applications for lateral entry to the posts of Joint Secretary and Director. The matter of this recruitment fired by the Commission has now also resonated in Parliament. On Tuesday, Rajya Sabha MP from Samajwadi Party Ram Gopal Yadav raised the issue of direct recruitment to the post of Joint Secretary in the House. He said that there was a lot of resentment among civil service participants and IAS officers for doing so. Rome Gopal Yadav also says that reservation arrangements were not taken care of in such appointments. Let us tell you that through this recruitment, a total of 30 posts of Joint Secretary and Director in the government will be filled.

Civil service officers are usually appointed to these posts. But now through lateral entry, experienced and expert professionals from the private sector are given the opportunity to work in this position. Talking of vacancies, 3 posts are joint secretary and 27 posts are of director level. This recruitment has come out on a three-year contract. It can be extended up to 5 years depending on performance.

It is important to note that no written test will be held for appointment to these posts. Candidates will be selected on the basis of interview. Applicants should have a master’s degree for recruitment to the above posts.
