UPSC ISS Notification 2020:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) Examination 2020.

With the release of official notification, the online application process has also started today. Interested candidates can apply for UPSC ISS 2020 exam from 10 to 30 June from 6 pm on UPSC online.nic.in.

The approximate number of vacancies to fill through the ISS exam is 47. The exam will be held on 16 October.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree with statistics / mathematical statistics / applied statistics as a subject from a recognized university.

Selection will be based on written test and interview.

Examination Plan:

The UPSC ISS 2020 exam will be conducted in two parts. The first part will be a written examination with a maximum of 1000 marks, while the second part will be of the candidates who will be called by UPSC. Viva-voice carries a maximum of 200 digits.

Exam Pattern:

  • General English – 100 marks
  • General Studies –100 marks
  • Statistics-I (Objective) – 200 marks
  • Statistics-II (Objective) – 200 marks
  • Statistics-III (Descriptive) – 200 marks
  • Statistics-IV (Descriptive) – 200 marks

Application fee:

200 / – for General / OBC / EWS / Pay the Examination Fee through Debit / Credit Card or Challan in Net Banking or any branch of SBI. No fee for SC / ST / PH / Women

UPSC IES, ISS Exam 2020: Eligibility Criteria

Indian Economic Service:

Candidates applying for the examination should have a post-graduate degree in Economics / Applied Economics / Business Economics / Economics from any recognized university.

Indian Statistical Service:

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree with Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics as a subject in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from any recognized university.

UPSC IES, ISS Exam 2020:

Exam Pattern

The exam pattern will consist of Part I and Part II. Part I will have a written test. Part II will be Viva-Voca of such candidates, who can be called by the Commission with a maximum of 200 marks. Part I examination will be scheduled for a period of three hours.

Question papers will be set in English and answers should be in English. The questions of all subjects in the Indian Economic Service Examination and the Indian Statistical Service Examination will be of traditional (essay) type except Statistics Paper I and Statistics Paper-II which will be objective type papers.

Fee Pattern

Candidates who wish to take the Indian Economic Service Examination / Indian Statistical Service Examination, have to pay Rs 200 / – by paying the amount in any branch of State Bank of India or using Visa / Master / RuPay Credit / Debit Card. Or by using SBI’s Internet banking.
